April proved to be a landmark month for Brussels Airlines, with the carrier welcoming 837, 646 travellers on board 7,130 flights, a year-on-year passenger growth of 54.6 percent.

European routes were the most popular, with 693,166 passengers travelling within the continent, representing 82 percent of all customers.

All in all, passenger load factor reached 81 percent and the number of flights increased 26 percent over April 2016.

This strong performance was mainly driven by the recent opening of new routes to Mumbai and Madeira, which both attracted a high number of travellers.

In terms of cargo volumes carried, April indicated a strong growth with 162,191 revenue tonne kilometres transported, a surge of 49.6 percent, while available tonne kilometres jumped 22 percent.
