TUI’s First Boeing B737 MAX Named After Tenerife

TUI highlighted its cooperative relationship with the holiday destinations and host countries it represents, by christening its new Boeing B737 MAX aircraft in the names of destinations in the holiday regions.

Canary Island of Tenerife is one of the most important holiday regions for TUI guests from all over Europe.

This is why the island has now given its name to the first of 72 new aircraft that have been ordered.

The Boeing B737 MAX 8 of TUI fly Benelux with the registration OO-MAX, was christened Tenerife Alegria on April 23, at Aeropuerto de Tenerife Sur Reina Sofia Airport.

Gunther Hofman, managing director, TUI fly Benelux, enthused, “TUI has been represented in Tenerife for 30 years. Today, the island is one of the biggest and most popular holiday regions for our guests from all over Europe.”

The aircraft’s godmother is Michelle Alonso Morales, a 24-year-old, swimmer born in Tenerife. Besides the godmother, Jose Gonzalez, mayor, Granadilla de Abona, and Hofman, also signed the christening certificate.
