Record February for Heathrow Hub

Heathrow Airport has achieved its best-ever February with 5.27 million passengers, a year-on-year increase of 5.5 percent, adjusted to remove 2016’s leap day.

Furthermore, cargo volumes also rose to 127,000 tonnes, up 4.4 percent over February 2016, thanks to enhanced contributions from emerging markets, such as Brazil, India and China, up 10 percent, five percent and 4.2 percent, respectively.

Healthy growth was also observed in freight to the Middle East, rising eight percent, and the US which grew seven percent.

John Holland-Kaye, CEO, Heathrow Airport, enthused, “Heathrow is off to a flying start this year – we are delivering the best service of any major airport in Europe to record numbers of passengers and boosting British exports with record cargo volumes.”
