The city's market for congresses and conventions saw a slight increase in the number of events, delegates and locations compared to 2015.

The city hosted nearly 48,700 events which were attended by a total of 3.82 million participants while the number of event locations were also boosted.

Stephanie Klausing, director, conventions and marketing, Cologne Tourist Board, enthused, "Cologne is a favourite location for events, and it is going to stay that way […].

With our eyes on the future, we approve of Koelnmesse's initiative to build the CONFEX Hall, which from 2021 onward will offer space for events attended by up to 6,500 people […]."
