In 2016, more than 216,000 international arrivals visited health resorts in Belarus, a year-on-year rise of 32.6 percent.

Belarusian health premises provided BRY157.9 million (EUR7,960) of services to foreign citizens, up 32.6 percent on 2015.

Gennady Bolbatovsky, director, Republican Center of Health Improvement and Health Resort Treatment of the Population, Belarus, attributed the success to optimal prices as well as improved quality and variety of services available.

In recent years, the occupancy rate for health improvement and wellness centres has stood at around 80 percent.

There are currently some 324 certified offerings with capacity of 67,400.
