The 7th World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Silk Road Task Force meeting was held on March 30 – 31 in Valencia, gathering representatives from 24 countries to discuss the adaptation strategy of Silk Road in the globalised tourism age.

The event addressed the three pillars of the action plan, namely, marketing promotion, destination management and capacity building as well as travel facilitation.

The upcoming First Western Silk Road Workshop, to be held in Greece on April 26 – 27, was also discussed, while Bulgaria expressed an interest in hosting the second event aimed at reviving Silk Road heritage located across Europe.

The meeting demonstrated Valencia’s ongoing support in promoting Silk Road since Spain’s inclusion in the UNWTO Silk Road Programme in 2015.
