The first Meeting of the High Level Task Force on Tourism and Security organised by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) was held in Madrid on May 10 to debate the key areas related to security in tourism.

Representatives of UNWTO member states, United Nations organisations and private sector entities convened and set the primary issues to focus on, such as the integration of national and tourism security, support of the sector in setting crisis management plans, travel advisories, seamless travel procedures including visa policies and crisis communication.

Specific working groups will be responsible for addressing these areas and developing recommendations and guidelines to be presented at the UNWTO General Assembly.
